Whilst still basking in the success of his last release ‘Naachiyaar’, filmmaker Bala has resumed the shooting of his forthcoming romantic drama ‘Varma’, which is a remake of the Telugu blockbuster ‘Arjun Reddy’. The film will mark the acting debut of Chiyaan Vikram’s son Dhruv, who is reprising Vijay Deverakonda’s role in the Tamil version.
According to reports, Bala is currently filming the scenes featuring Dhruv and his friends. Notably, the makers still haven’t finalised the leading lady of the film. Earlier in March, Dhruv’s fully-grown bearded look for the film went viral on the internet. So far, Bala has not remade a single movie in his career. But Vikram specifically wanted Bala to launch his son. Produced by E 4 Entertainment, ‘Varma’ will have dialogues by the National Award-winning director Raju Murugan.
If reports are to be believed, the team is likely to wrap up the shoot soon and the film is expected to release by the end of this year.
‘Arjun Reddy’ tells the story of a medical surgeon who falls for his college junior. He turns to alcohol post break-up and the rest is about how he redeems himself. Upon release, the film won both critical and commercial success.
